Enhanced Eye Velocity in Head Impulse Testing—A Possible Indicator of Endolymphatic Hydrops

چکیده

Introduction: On video head impulse testing (vHIT) of semicircular canal function, some patients reliably show enhanced eye velocity and so VOR gains >1.0. Modeling imaging indicate this could be due to endolymphatic hydrops. Oral glycerol reduces membranous labyrinth volume cochlear symptoms hydrops, we tested whether oral reduced the vHIT velocity. Study Design: Prospective clinical study retrospective analysis patient data. Methods: Patients with during horizontal were enrolled ( n = 9, 17 ears) given orally 86% glycerol, 1.5 mL/kg body weight, dissolved 1:1 in physiological saline. Horizontal was performed before intake (time 0), then at intervals 1, 2, 3 h after intake. Control 4, 6 received water same intervals. To provide an objective index used a measure gain which captures is clear on inspecting records. We call initial it defined as: (the ratio peak value time velocity). The responses other who showed routine analyzed try identify how enhancement occurred. Results: found that caused, average, significant reduction response, whereas caused no systematic change. impulses compensatory saccade-like response increasing Conclusion: following consistent hypothesis may by

Tinnitus & early endolymphatic hydrops.

Ménière's disease with all of its clinical manifestations can be divided into two categories – those symptoms that derive from the cochlea (the anterior labyrinth) and/or those that arise from the vestibular labyrinth or the posterior part of the inner ear. The symptoms that arise from the cochlea include hearing loss, which can be fluctuant and progressive and often is, or tinnitus which can b...

Effects of endolymphatic sac decompression surgery on endolymphatic hydrops.

CONCLUSIONS The present findings suggest that complete control of vertigo after endolymphatic sac decompression surgery (ESDS) does not always depend on improved vestibular function or reduced endolymphatic hydrops. Vertigo control is, however, associated with hearing stability. OBJECTIVE Among surgical treatments for intractable Meniere's disease, ESDS is performed to preserve and improve in...

Spiral ganglion degeneration patterns in endolymphatic hydrops.

OBJECTIVES The mechanistic association between endolymphatic hydrops (ELH) and hearing loss (HL) is unclear. Although ELH severity has been shown to correlate in some studies with HL, injury of vital structures, including hair cells and the cochlear nerve, have failed to demonstrate correlation with ELH severity. The goal of this study is to evaluate the hypothesis that spiral ganglion cell deg...

Delayed endolymphatic hydrops as a clinical entity.

Delayed endolymphatic hydrops (DEH) is a clinical entity that can be differentiated from Ménière's disease and is typically observed in patients who have been suffering from longstanding unilateral profound inner-ear hearing loss. DEH probably is caused by delayed atrophy or fibrous obliteration of the endolymphatic resorptive system of the membranous labyrinth. The time that elapses between th...
